For those interested in manta ray scuba or snorkeling tours, Honokohau Harbor, a 13-mile drive away, serves as a departure point. To explore Hawaii Island, renting a car is essential as public transportation is not available.

The Hualalai Golf Course also hosts the annual Mitsubishi Electric Championship, a PGA Tour Champions golf tournament held in Hawaii. The tournament takes place in January from Thursday to Saturday, with the course closed to non-tournament play from the Saturday before until the following Sunday.
